Ran the application in Firefox instead of Chrome and found it displays a funny looking blue box. Right clicked on it, selected View Image and found that the image (an ordinary SVG file) is displayed just fine. Talk about bizarre rendering behavior between browsers. Not sure why the image map is no longer displayed properly as it used to work fine in both browsers.
