You can try super sourcing<https://developers.google.com/web-toolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideOrganizingProjects#DevGuideAutomaticResourceInclusion>something like this, but after checking the source<http://www.docjar.org/html/api/org/apache/commons/lang/time/DurationFormatUtils.java.html>it appears to use Calendar and GregorianCalendar.
There is the PeriodFormatter<http://joda-time.sourceforge.net/api-release/org/joda/time/format/PeriodFormatter.html>in JodaTime, but I hear JodaTime does not fly with GWT. However there is a port, gwt-joda-time <http://code.google.com/p/gwt-joda-time/>. This might work for you.
