I can say from recruitment experience that my office has actively been recruiting GWT developers and they are hard to find. Usually we end up hiring Java devs with a webapp background and having them learn GWT. I would not say there is any trouble finding GWT positions in our US market. However we're looking for on-site, not remote developers, so I cannot attest to the remote GWT dev market.
