Maybe your problem is…

1. request start
2. entity manager is created
3. request factory load your entity, which is attached to the entity manager
4. request factory sets the client side modification in your attached entity
5. request factory validates your entity and generate a 
ContraintViolationException
6. request factory return the Constraint (but the next step discard this one)
6. entity manager is closed, but… decides to flush your pending updates in your 
entities…
7. the ConstraintViolationException is lost because a new unexpected exception 
is thrown by the entityManager outside the scope of RequestFactory services

I don’t know is this is your problem, but this is a dangerous situation that 
may happens with RequestFactory + JPA. Check your transaction configuration and 
the flush mode.
