Looks like I fixed it. After analysis, it seems that this problem occurred after connecting to Amtrak's Wifi which has a weird accept-terms requirement. My best guess is that corrupted files were downloaded and cached. The errors went away after clearing the cache in Eclipse (*Window > Preferences > Network Connections > Cache > Remove All*). Probably should disable the caching here to prevent that in the future.
