HI, Looks like my previous posting to Google health Developers got mangled. The following is the correct text of the posting:
My name is Anantha Bangalore and I am a senior Systems Architect with Lockheed Martin's Health Services and solutions division. For the past 16 years I have been involved in the development of applications around the Unified Medical Language system (UMLS) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) part of the National Institutes of Health. (NIH). The purpose of NLM's Unified Medical Language System(R) (UMLS) is to facilitate the development of computer systems that behave as if they "understand" the meaning of the language of biomedicine and health. To that end, NLM produces and distributes the UMLS Knowledge Sources (databases) and associated software tools (programs) for use by system developers in building or enhancing electronic information systems that create, process, retrieve, integrate, and/or aggregate biomedical and health data and information, as well as in informatics research. People from Lockheed have been involved in the design and development of the UMLS right from its inception. NLM is closely looking at EHR's and PHR's and people from Lockheed are involved in various development activities in these domains. I was wondering if it would be possible for some senior level folks at Lockheed to talk to some senior people at Google Health to explore possible avenues of collaboration. I would greatly appreciate it, if someone can point me in the right direction with regards to this matter.
