We may be able to add addition mappings that make life easier, but changing the existing functionality as it is today is not an option. That's b/c of backwards compatibility issues with existing clients. Regarding categories... These are typically singular for the Google Data Protocol. Think of them as labels or tags. "Show me everything tagged 'allergy'". As another example, you can search by document type using the the DocList API: /-/document, /-/spreadsheet/mine, /-/folder/-viewed. All are singular categories.
