This probably just clouds the waters but I've had a chance to bo-peep at the ASTM Standard Spec document. Not sure if I'm allowed to quote but it says with respect to the Status, "Instance of CodedDescription with restricted content that must be one of the defined structured text values, Active, On Hold, Prior History No Longer Active".
How close is the GH API expected to follow the ASTM standard? I have this as a general question. The ASTM is a lot more formally specified; the GH API Reference less so. The former seems to be a good reference for sorting out detail of usability issues, eg "how many actors, "is Source valid here" but it can only be taken as a guide if GH defines it so. Yes I miss the rigour :-) but if you have to program with this then it's important - sorry to be anal. Even more generally, (did I read it here somewhere?) I think we could use commonly agreed vocabulary and semantics to describe medical terms and their environment. The use of "fuzzy" terms and meanings, combined with a lack of a CCR XML validation facility, and implementation versioning, all mentioned elsewhere by me, has got me worried about how far we might add value to the CCR. At best it may just become a collection of loose notices to read. I digress, sorry but I come with a past network management background. Personal health management has perhaps a further way to go, but please tell me we're heading into a tighter specification.
