Asia-Pacific Summit

 

The
National Council on Climate Change (Dewan Nasional Perubahan Iklim/DNPI) is
Indonesia's national focal point on climate change that has the primary
responsibility of formulating national policy, strategy and programmes as well
as coordinating all policy implementations related to climate change control,
covering mitigation, adaptation, technology transfer and financing activities.

 

DNPI
is distributing the following information in relation to The Climate Project's
Asia Pacific Summit and climate change training to be held in Melbourne under
the leadership of Mr. Al Gore.

 

The
Climate Project (TCP) is seeking passionate people committed to making a
difference on climate change to apply for a place at the Asia-Pacific Summit,
to be held in Melbourne, Australia from 11th to 13th July, 2009.



The Climate Project is The Hon Al Gore's global climate change leadership
program. The Australian chapter is run in partnership with the Australian
Conservation Foundation (ACF) who will host the Summit.



Applicants will be drawn from Australasia and the Asia- Pacific
to undergo personal training from Al Gore and a panel of experts on the
relevant climate science and solutions needed to solve the climate crisis.
Applicants will be trained to deliver a slideshow in conjunction with the
skills to inspire change in their networks and communities in this crucial year
for climate change, culminating with the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) Copenhagen meeting in December
2009.



In attending the Asia-Pacific Summit, applicants will be asked to commit to
voluntarily undertaking & reporting on, a minimum of 10 presentations or
activities over the next 12 months.

Delegates
for the Summit will be selected on the basis of their application. Applicants
should note that TCP and ACF reserve absolute discretion in relation to the
selection of delegates for the summit and unfortunately resources will not
permit us to undertake feedback on the applications of unsuccessful applicants.





You
will be required to fund, or find sponsorship, for your own travel and
accommodation. DNPI has secured sponsorship for a few participants in
collaboration with enlightened institutions.
