We were down for 4 hours, 17 minutes Friday, Nov 27th. Nov 25 had 77 different lists add data to their archive. Nov 28 had 57 different lists add data to their archive.
Notable: We haven't heard a peep from vger.rutgers.edu for the last 14 hours (vger has the high traffic linux lists). Also, majordomo on vger isn't responding to my resubscribe requests, so I'm guessing either it is down or there is a stale bad DNS cache somewhere. Vger, plus Thanksgiving weekend in the US may account for the bulk of the missing traffic. On the up side, I had a good talk with the backup MX folks in Singapore. I now feel comfortable that I know what is going on, and that backup MX it is configured correctly and working. I also have a reasonable way to test it. Yay! Other notes - I've updated the software in places to reduce clutter in the logs (and removed some annoying but harmess bugs that were chattering away) and mentioned the MX backup on the faq. Also, there is a jitterbug bug database/change request system supposedly being setup by LinuxCare for our service. Also, I've contacted the folks at http://www.progressive-comp.com/Lists/ who run a very similar service (MySQL based) in hopes of finding a web mirroring partner. Ok, enough reports ... and good night. Jeff
