I received the following question, and am replying to gossip as it is general interest.
> how do I research early messages from a list where all I know > is the name(s) of the probable author(s) and some idea of > the approximate date? Is this a common frustration? I'm trying to guage demand for this sort of thing. If this is a problem, what would be the preferred solution: an "advanced search" with more sophisticated controls? bringing back history pages, more search results? better integration a site specific google search? something else? > Do you have a list of hints on how to use the search function > effectively? The search form queries htdig 3.1.6 and I think is set to a simple AND query - all terms may be present. How strong is demand for boolean queries (Jeff AND NOT Breidenbach) or other more advanced query options? Thanks in advance for feedback. -Jeff _______________________________________________ Discussion list for The Mail Archive Gossip@jab.org http://jab.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gossip
