I'd like to propose adding the following text about Stewards to the
Roles page athttps://www.mozilla.org/about/roles.html:
"Stewards are responsible for the growth and health of the community
around functional and regional areas. Although everyone in Mozilla
has a responsibility to help new people join the community, Stewards
maintain the contribution pathways that connect potential
contributors to teams that have contribution opportunities. Stewards
also run recognition, education and metrics projects that keep those
pathways functioning well."
The Stewards program was started in late 2011 as a way to identify
and support the people on teams who were driving community building
efforts. It has reached a point of maturity where it has been widely
adopted and the role has been clearly defined.
I've had a chance to talk to Mitchell and Gerv recently about this
and the text sounded fine to them. I wanted to run this by the
larger group to see if there were any questions, comments or
suggestions before adding this to the page.
This looks good David. I think it will help on the road to formalising
out community building efforts.
For those who don't know, the Stewards are listed here:
