All,
I had inquired about the possibility of UIOWA creating its COVID19 CDM as being
comprised of all patients, not just those who meet the criteria that were
specified by PCORnet. Below is the response from DRNOC confirming that this
was acceptable.

Hi Brian,
If you prefer to refresh your full CDM on the necessary schedule, that is ok
with us, as long as you maintain a static view of the approved CDM for all
study and Front Door queries. We described a standalone COVID-CDM as most sites
did not express the ability to refresh the whole CDM as needed.

Thanks
Darcy

Hi,

UIOWA is planning to stand up a COVID19 CDM per PCORnet’s request. We
understand that the ask was for sites to only include patients testing positive
for the virus or with a coronavirus-related ICD-10 code.

We are asking whether sites like UIOWA can refresh their entire CDM as their
COVID19 CDM, rather than restricting to patients who test positive for the
virus. At UIOWA, it’s mainly a matter of time to pull out only positive cases.
Moreover, given that coding systems are in flux it may be more beneficial to
include all patients and have PCORnet queries filter out the positive cases,
rather than sites. It would also more readily allow research designs that
require controls.

If it was possible to include all our patients we would expect that queries
from PCORnet would include code that limits based on COVID status.

Can PCORnet please let us know if we can create our COVID19 CDM without
restricting to COVID positive cases? (We will still proceed if not, but will
save time if limiting isn’t necessary)

Thanks,
Brian
