does this mean that tony thinks the database schema of Vista is a good
thing because of its extensive and longstanding use, or does tony think
we should just work on the gnumed schema?

In terms of inciting people to upskill to write code for a FOSS EHR I
believe it is essential to have the database schema pinned down,
published and downloadable along with sample datasets of varying sizes.
I realise that changes to the db structure will be necessary from time
to time but this should be kept ta a minimum and any such changes
could be handled by a group of wise men who pay due consideration to
(and are answerable to) the GUI / middleware writers who will have to
redo some of their code when the schema changes.
