Horst,

One of the benefits of being a GP is that you can use whatever you like, assuming you don't have to exchange documents with others who use MS formats. Unfortunately that's most of our business partners.

I don't have the say to abandon MS here, but I have used OOo for some time to convert everything I reasonably can to .pdf format for exchange with others. Not ideal, but a bridge to avoiding spreading MS formats any more than absolutely necessary.
