I've got one with about 800*600 on a 17" CRT because he has some undefined 
trouble with reading the screen. 
I use multifocal glasses now, and that means that I can focus on something a 
metre away as easily as a close or far object. I suspect that the same answer 
would work for him.
Another has a 17" LCD downgraded one resolution because he prefers it that way 
- and again I suspect it is the failure to get appropriate lenses for the 
human.
