MDW2 is not Foxpro, it's DB2. MSS Classic is the only health IT system I'm aware of based on Foxpro.

Peter,

This is an interesting issue.

In years gone by I opened MD tables using the FoxPro filter in Access 97. DB2 filters and others, such as DB3 and 4 didn't work. My understanding is that DB2 is an IBM technology, which they still market.

From the IBM DB2 website:

DB2 Universal Database is the database management system that delivers a
flexible and cost-effective database platform to build robust on demand
business applications. DB2 UDB further leverages your resources with broad
support for open standards and popular development platforms like J2EE and
Microsoft .NET. The DB2 UDB family also includes solutions tailored for
specific needs like business intelligence and advanced tooling. Whether your
business is large or small, DB2 UDB has a solution built and priced to meet
your unique needs.

MD2 users might be better off if it was DB2.

Some time ago a HCN tech. support guy claimed it was based on a European database technology called 'Cova'. When I Googled on that all I could find were site's for a porn queen by that name.

Objecting to Mario's use of the word 'open', in describing this database technology seems highly appropriate.

I also have some doubts about the MD2 and MD3 RAD tool, which is CA Visual Objects. I have strong suspicions that lots of the anomalous behaviour MD2 and MD3 exhibit relates to problems with it, and possibly the libraries it uses.

Is the blurb for the current version. Notice the URL 'cavo' bit. It refers to compatibility with SQL and DBF type databases.
