Help - Using MacGPG on my mac (with Mac OS X) has gone from difficult to impossible. I've been using, trying to use GnuPG and the GPGMail plugin with Mail.app for many years. Up until GPGMail version 1.3.2beta1 Mac OS version 10.6.5, I had achieved some success. On the 15th of Dec, 2010, I tried to fix a problem with the GPGMail plugin (I submitted a bug for a pinentry problem, but that bug is gone/closed (not resolved), and the website redesigned). Unfortunately, my attempt to 'fix' the problem (by removing components/reinstalling components) went horribly wrong (it's a long story involving numerous email exchanges with the developers). The end result was a complete inability to use the GPGMail plugin.
I've tried working with the developers, my last round of attempts to get things straightened out resulted in a 'Wait until the next version is released' edict. I waited, saw the release of MacGPG2 (2.0.17.6) along with GPGTools (20110125) and decided to try again. Unfortunately, installing these two things (I really have no idea what was installed where) results in a consistent crash of Mail.app (version 4.4 (1082) with Mac OS 10.6.6). If I remove all other plugins, Mail.app still crashes. I can only use Mail.app if I move the GPGMail plugin to a 'disabled' folder. Short of reinstalling my entire OS, can someone tell me what components I should have installed (and where) in order to use the GPGMail plugin with my Mac and Mail.app? I have several legacy components installed in various directories, but don't have any ideas which ones I can safely trash, need to remove, where they area, what ones I need, etc. I'm thinking that one/some of those old components must be hanging on and causing problems with the newer components. It's a big mess, and the new model for installation leaves me utterly befuddled. Why is there a 'MacGPG2' installer and a 'GPGTools' installer? Do I need both? Which one should I install first? If I install one do I need the other? I think the safest thing to do would be to uninstall (manually, as the 'uninstaller' simply fails without giving me any indication of why it's failing) all the current and old components, then start over. Can anyone help me with this problem? Where should I start? - Robert _______________________________________________ gpgtools-users mailing list [email protected] Changes: http://lists.gpgtools.org/mailman/listinfo/gpgtools-users Unsubscribe: http://lists.gpgtools.org/mailman/options/gpgtools-users/[email protected]?unsub=Unsubscribe&unsubconfirm=1 This email sent to: [email protected]
