I have addressed this issue in a posting a while ago, quoting the GPG
Keychain Access's author.

I shall take the liberty of quoting a subscriber to gnupg-users' forum:

"It's best not to obsess over key size.  Larger is not better, but it's
not as if it hurts you, either."
