Dear Ben:

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had some other priorities...

I got back after it today and am very, very close. The GnuPG 1.4.x version
works well with the Portable Thunderbird on a USB thumb drive, just like you
recommended. I put the /usr/local/* structure that the installer makes into a
folder on the USB thumb drive. It is easy enough to override the location of
the gnupg executable to the USB drive location.

Then I imported two private keys using the Key Management facility of Enigmail
for Thunderbird on the USB drive. (The local machine I was using does not have
a copy of Thunderbird. It only exists on the USB thumb drive.) What I noticed
is that the .gnupg folder was then created on the local machine for the user I
was logged in with. I copied it to the USB thumb drive and deleted it from the
local machine. Yet, Enigmail cannot "see" the copy of .gnupg that has the key
ring on the USB thumb drive.

Do you know of a setting that I can use to override where Enigmail will look
for the .gnupg directory that has the key ring? It is not on the Expert
settings.

This is possibly the last hurdle to running MacGPG on a USB drive! Thanks in
advance for any direction you can give me.

Best Regards,

Frederick - Security Services Executive
