Summary: Confusion "Copy episodes to device" / "Sync with iPod"
           Product: gPodder
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: low
         Component: Application
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

First, I want to thank you for this great program. And it still has a lot of
potential to become the ultimate podcast client! (I finally dropped Amarok for
it).

On my german installation, the menu entry says: "iPod -> Episoden zum Gerät
kopieren" ("Copy episodes to device"). I think this is confusing, because
gpodder actually performs a real "sync", also meaning episodes on the device
are deleted. In addition, the context menu of the tray icon says
"Synchronisiere mit iPod" ("Sync with iPod").

I think the sync feature should be more promoted. This is what I was still
missing on Linux until I discovered gpodder. It's a great opportunity to
finally have an iTunes equivalent.

Three other things (should I file seperate bug reports for this?):
1) On the bottom of the website the text still says: 2005-2008. (Apparently
only in the Bugs section)

2) When I haven't heard an episode completely on my iPod and I sync it with
gPodder, such an episode is marked as new on my iPod. Isn't a big deal, though,
because it does not reset the position where I stopped listening.

3) I would really like to have the episodes I completely listened to on my iPod
deleted on my computer at the next sync. I don't want them to be deleted when
they are moved on my iPod, because I've to download them again if something
failed.
Maybe the sync options could be more flexible:
UI-Proposal:
When I move episodes to the device: (Combobox:) [ Do Nothing/Mark as
listened/Delete ]
When I have completely listened to episodes on my device: (Comboxbox:) [ Do
Nothing/Mark as listened on my computer/Delete on my computer]
and so on...

I would really like to think about this a lot more, but I haven't much time at
the moment.

Regard, benny
