Summary: Option to convert ogg-->mp3 immediately after
downloading
Product: gPodder
Version: 0.17.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: feature request
Priority: low
Component: Application
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
For devices that do not support the ogg audio format, syncing podcasts can take
a very long time when several of these files have to be converted to mp3. In
order to minimize the duration of the sync operation, I would like to see an
option that allows all files to be converted immediately after they are
downloaded. This could simply be a checkbox in the Device tab of Preferences,
underneath the "My player supports OGG", called "Convert OGG files after
download" (or something along those lines).
My own particular reasons for wanting such an option are:
1) I tend to download podcasts in my spare time and sync them to my device
later, when I want to listen to them. I am usually in more of a "hurry" to sync
my podcasts to the device, whereas I tend to have idle time following downloads
that could ideally be used to convert the ogg files to mp3.
2) The battery drains on my mp3 player while it is syncing.
