--- Comment #1 from Thomas Perl <[email protected]> 2009-10-30 22:36:22 GMT --- (In reply to comment #0) > Based on the the existing user data, we probably need to allow logins based on > email addresses [1]. > > @thp: do we need a username or is the email address sufficient? In the current data set, the e-mail address is used as username. If we are going to add community features, the user should have the option of defining a user name ("unix name") that can be used in URLs for the REST API. So I think the best way would be to somehow "generate" usernames from e-mail addresses in the migration step and add a counter in cases where clashes happen (e.g. [email protected] and [email protected] -> "user" clashes). This username should be editable by the user in the login area as long as the new name is not taken already. Using usernames also has the advantage for the users of not having to expose their e-mail address everywhere. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.gpodder.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes. _______________________________________________ gPodder-Bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/gpodder-bugs
