Summary: serving static files

Django suggests [1] using a separate web server for serving static media files.
As we will be running lightttpd anyway, I don't think this will be necessary.
For easier development with the internal webserver, I propose to serve media
files as /media/, which could be handled by both the internal web server and
lighttpd.
The development server could be configured [1] to handle media files, e.g.
located at mygpo/web/media/.
lighttpd could use a more advanced configuration which does on-demand
downloading, scaling etc before delivering media files by itself (without
passing it through Djang).
If you agree with my proposal, please prepare the filesystem layout and
lighttpd configuration. I'll prepare the Django configuration.
