Hi all, I found out I needed to recompile VLC with the 'rtsp' USE-flag enabled :-)).
For those who are interested: I use very minimal USE settings in Gentoo, so I basically have a very basic, non-customized system. This works perfectly 99.99% of the time. VLC is one of the programs which for some reason is very picky about USE-flags, so I have the USE settings from the videolan site, which by default does not include rtsp. I read something about mplayer including some non-Open Source Real drivers. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, Wilfred --- On Thu, 7/31/08, Thomas Perl <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > From: Thomas Perl <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: [gpodder-devel] [off-topic] playing realaudio in VLC > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], "Development for gPodder" > <gpodder-devel@lists.berlios.de> > Date: Thursday, July 31, 2008, 5:47 AM > On Wed, 2008-07-30 at 20:49 -0700, Wilfred van Rooijen > wrote: > > I'm trying to use VLC to play some realaudio from > the web > > > > > http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/VPRO/4770755/surestream.rm?title=Radio > Bergeijk 31-12-2001 > > > > VLC gives an error message: > > > > live555 info: real codec detected, using real-RTSP > instead > > live555 error: Nothing to play for > rtsp://realstreams.omroep.nl/bobo02/1/VPRO/4770755/surestream.rm?title=Radio+Bergeijk+31-12-2001 > > main error: no access module matched "rtsp" > > main error: open of > `rtsp://realstreams.omroep.nl/bobo02/1/VPRO/4770755/surestream.rm?title=Radio > Bergeijk 31-12-2001' failed: could not create access: no > access module matched "rtsp" > > > > I've been looking on the VLC forum but I cannot > find an answer.
