Brand identity is very important when defining a product. The gPodder
'green man' and its use as an icon an important part of the brand
identity for gPodder. If a new icon is desired then the 'green man'
should not just be thrown out. It should be used somewhere in the new
icon, but maybe not as the major feature of the icon. Eventually in
future version, the 'green man' can be phased out completely in favor
of the icon that was transitioned to, desired. An possible idea may be
to use an icon similar to the new proposed icon, but rather then the
'antenna ?' in the center, use the green man in the center of the
circle, but smaller then he is now. He can change color depending on
the status of gPodder i.e. downloading podcasts. Just as the new icon
would. This would introduce the circle concept of the new icon, and in
the future you can replace the 'green man' with the 'antenna'. While the new icon looks nice. I do think it is a bit to generic looking. It does not offer anything unique that tells me it is the gPodder application. It looks more like telling me if my wireless network device is turned on or off. Integrating the 'green man' would add the unique gPodder brand identity to it. Jared Paul Rudkin wrote: I like the new icon, but I also like the green man.
