Hi, gPodder developers. I'm the person who created the new gPodder icon. The 'antenna' is actually the official Podcast symbol, and a great way to tell users that "This is a podcast application". I could probably make the waves around it stronger to make its apperance stronger. That way it would also not look that much like a web browser as some of you think that the current version does. As for having the green man as part of the current icon I'm afraid that's not ideal at all. Again, I -really- understand that the green man means a lot to you developers and power users that participate on this list, but new users will likely be more confused than helped from it.
