Thanks. I think it's better to have it as a "test-l10n" target, though, because otherwise "normal" users that are running the Git version would have to get the package that includes "msgfmt" (I think some gettext dev package IIRC).
I'll gladly apply the modified patch if you send it to me :) We probably should update the Wiki page to include instructions how to use this target for testing translations once the patch is merged.
