The latest version of the gPodder source code is actually 2.15 and you
can get it from the download page:

    http://gpodder.org/downloads.html

As for understanding the source, check out the Dive into Python book:

    http://diveintopython.org/

and navigate the source code. If you have any specific questions, feel
free to ask these on the mailing list.
