Colleagues have made me aware of the ORFEO Toolbox[1] , which presents
itself as an "open source library of image processing algorithms".
It is GPL-compatible and contains many image processing functions. Major
drawback: it's in C++.
But maybe it might be interesting to look at for possible integration
into GRASS in order to quickly increase the image processing
functionalities ?
