I would suggest to try without GEOS first and fix all outstanding things. Then only compile with GEOS support and fix the rest... GEOS is yet quite optional and doesn't do all things as expected (personal mail from MarkusM). Makes sense? Please report the errors in detail to get 'em fixed.
