I am not aware of that but indeed I don't see it in the menu under Raster > Reports and statistics Was it ever therein? Regarding replacement: https://grass.osgeo.org/grass79/manuals/r.stats.zonal.html#notes "r.stats.zonal is intended to be a partial replacement for r.statistics, with support for floating-point cover maps at the expense of not supporting quantiles."
