Dear all, Please see the current draft of RFC: Version Numbering which is in PR 2357. It is now almost ready and you can leave comments on GitHub or here. Most important thing it brings is a continuous minor versioning line, i.e., the next planned release - as you may have noticed - is 8.3, not 8.4 because we will not be skipping odd numbers anymore.
