Don’t know if anyone will find this of interest but I have added a definition to the files page that I thought I would share with the community as I haven't contributed anything other than crash reports to Grasshopper so far.
Z_colour.ghx [created 2009-03-10 by Danny Boyes] http://grasshopper3d.googlegroups.com/web/Z_Colour.ghx Points of Interest:- An analytical use of Grasshopper Colouring Mesh Vertices based on surface's Z value Grid surface with randomly generated height values Toggling between two colouring options for the mesh Background:- This definition was created to generate 2D diagrams to represent the deformation of a structure with colours depicting the amount of displacement. Originally the surface to be treated with this was a trimmed patch surface created in Rhino from a series of points representing the actual measurements of displacement. Development:- To demonstrate this definition I added a random surface to display the results, also a second option of colour gradient seen here as the terrain option. Grasshopper Wishes:- As a result of this definition I have a few items for the wish list. 1.) Colour Spectrum Property Output. With this example I have a second set of colour gradients that are copied from the first instance. If I edit the first instance it would be convenient to have a link that transfers the properties of the spectrum. 2.) Grouping Components. I know there is development of the clusters under way; however, it would be nice to be able to group components with out creating clusters. This would help with copying and moving blocks of components. 3.) Cluster Name Component. Can there be a special kind of Panel that provides the source of a clusters name when you included it in the creation of a cluster? 4.) Cluster Creation Point. Can the position that the cluster is made be the geometric centre of the components used to create it?
