Hello Jochen,

This is no longer a problem. I think the journal was eventually flushed
properly. At least I don't spot a sag in messages to suggest logs were
lost, and the journal files have long since rolled. There were no errors in
the log, just the expected startup

2015-08-06_20:24:32.66905 INFO [InputBufferImpl] Message journal is
enabled.
2015-08-06_20:24:32.81507 INFO [LogManager] Found clean shutdown file.
Skipping recovery for all logs in data directory
'/var/opt/graylog/data/journal'
2015-08-06_20:24:32.81572 INFO [LogManager] Loading log 'messagejournal-0'
2015-08-06_20:24:32.87177 INFO [KafkaJournal] Initialized Kafka based
journal at /var/opt/graylog/data/journal

Weird. Oh well. Even if some messages were lost, the journal is working
properly from this point on. Thanks!
