Are you sure it's a change in GM?  That behavior changed for me as you
describe when I upgraded to Firefox 4 from 3.

It was a change in GM, to more closely approximate the standard behavior of Firefox.

I use the popular add-on Tab Mix Plus to control how tabs are opened, and in the past GM always followed whatever setting I used in Tab Mix Plus. Now, it ignores my settings, and opens them in the reverse order that I want them to. I'd rather have control over this.
