Curious to know the status of this. There are a hundred or so people who
want to upgrade, but are stuck on release 2.3 and FF35, because of the
problem detailed below. It's been 2 months since I first reported this.

'abort OK' message is displayed. Under Greasemonkey 3.1/Firefox 38, it
won't.
