I have at last made some progress. For a test the I.T. man switched off
McAfee virus scan, and N++ can immediately save a file. I don't know how
Firefox is allowed to write, and nothing else, maybe McAfee has inserted
itself in the file- in the file-write function and is checking against
rules. Company I.T. policy must be specifying what folders are locked.
Everything in and below C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla locked. I
can't create/edit/delete anything. I'm wondering if I can go round it by
defining the scripts folder to be somewhere else. The Mozilla folder in
\Local\ is locked as well.LocalLow does not have a Mozilla folder, maybe I
can create one and Firefox+GM will use it. Perhaps I could hack Firefox so
it's not 'Mozilla' :) .
