It seems this mailing list won't be a boring place for some time after
Mozilla has released its 57 Quantum and Anthony struggles with GM 4…
I'm updating my 20+ scripts now and experience this problem.
localStorage.set("some", "thing") works fine in one tab and I can even
leave that web page and visit it again, and localStorage.get("some")
returns "thing" to me. Also I see all my values in Firefox's Developer /
Storage Inspector. But I don't see my data in other tabs I open with that
same web page, and when I close FF and open it again, all my data is gone.
Basically, it doesn't save it between sessions. On the other hand, cookies
are saved as usual.
I guess it has something to do with new security model in which our GM
scripts run. Checking about:config, I see various keys like
dom.storage.enabled and dom.storageManager.enabled and (unrelated?)
devtools.storage.enabled all set to true.
Anybody knows what's happened in GM 4 with respect to this API and how to
make it work as before?
