National Youth Convention: Inviting Suggestions Dear Young friends, Anhad (Act Now for Harmony and Democracy) is planning to organise a National Youth Convention for a Secular, Democratic and Just India in Delhi on October 6, 7 and 8th 2006. Anhad is committed to building the vision for this convention from the ground and therefore we are writing to you today to seek your inputs on the content and structure of the convention. The convention is for youth between the ages of 15 and 25. In several of our youth projects a consistent and clear need has been expressed by many youth volunteers that there is a great necessity for the nations youth that are committed to secularism and democracy to come together and engage with each other. The idea of the convention grew out of this desire. Last week we had a preliminary discussion with a group of Anhad Youth volunteers to discuss an initial list the major areas of concern which should be discussed during the convention. The response was very diverse, contentious but encouraging. Given the breadth of reactions, we decided to open up the discussion and invite suggestions from young people from across the country. We want to hear from you as to what you would like to discuss in the convention. What are the major problems you face, your take on where we are headed as a nation and the role of the youth in shaping the future. What are your dreams and aspirations? What is your vision about the future of India? Please circulate this e-mail widely. We would also be approaching large number of schools, colleges, organisations working with youth to send us suggestions. Send us your suggestions latest by August 31, 2006. If you feel passionately about a theme which must find its place in the convention, then send us 500 words on why you think it is important to discuss that theme at the national convention. Of course, you will understand that we do not promise to include everything in the final schedule. However, we will promise you two things: We will try our best to include as many areas/ themes as possible; We will keep all those who write back to us in the loop and seek more inputs as the planning moves forward. If you are in Delhi and would like to be part of the core organisational group on a regular basis, write to us. We also request various organisations to write to us if they would like to support this convention Write to us at : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sincerely Shabnam Hashmi On behalf of Anhad --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ greenyouth mailinglist is the activist support mailinglist for kerala run by Global Alternate Information Applications (GAIA) To post to this group, send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
