I would suggest that the points raised by Arunima and Sanil need be
examined by all in a dispassionate way. These should be viewed as something
going beyond taking sides, in X vs Y personal/group (identity) clashes,
with peoples' egos at stake.
In my observation, several opinionated persons in this forum are doing
nothing, other than occasionally frowning upon the lack of quality/content
of such discussions. They are showing apparently less interest in taking
some effort in closing the gaps in the intended communication, which of
course might be seriously limitated by differing political perspectives.
Sitting on judgment over others with ready- made positions should give way
to attempts in carving out core elements of any discussion, by helping
others join without inhibition.
Finally, what is so much wrong if you were not making original posts but
only forwarding (posts)? I would say that I am much helped by such forwards
from other sources, and I would also like it very much to share with others
in this forum. I must admit that apart from the other things, this even
helps me to overcome the petty feeling of self-importance.
I wish Arunima meant not to deny that this kind of contribution/ sharing
has potential in influencing or broadening/redefining one's parameters in
politics.
