The same story reappearing in "The National Daily" virtually without anything being additionally conveyed to its readers, smacks of something really disturbing to the democratic minded, peace loving people; esp. when the support offered to Chengara struggle by the hardcore apologists of State-sponsored pogrom and innumerable "encounter deaths"s against Muslims and dalits in Gujrat and elsewhere (the BJP)is placed disproportionately on a top spot along with the reports of supports by other political actors. Further, the support to the struggling people of Chengara by the world renowned peace activists Arundhati and Medha Patkar is shown as something lesser vis a vis repetition (by the paper)of the story of threats of violent suicide protests by men and women, may be viewed with a little serious thought. The contradiction here is all the more apparent; one is expected to indiscriminatingly accept support by the perpetrators of hate politics in same manner as one would wholeheartedly welcome the solidarity expressed by the leaders of peace activism. We know too well the track records of the former,which has the potential to make the latters' pale to insignificance...Never mind taking war & peace, hate & love, violence & non-violence without discriminating between these as contradictory things! So,let everybody join the hate politics, which could immediately bring results,whatever. Because it can do anything, go to any extent, invariably with the blessings of the same class(pl excuse me, though I'm not supposed to use this 'bad' word ). (Also), don't doubt the logic behind the implicit appeal for playing out ugly acts of violence (of suicide), which is actually even more reprehensible than the oppressed standing up in arms in self defence..
