( I would really love to see Priyamani included :)
On a different note, it would indeed be profitable if
somebody could study the sociological functions of awards,
especially instituted by the Governments.
Should it be one instance where one should
leave all critical functions ?
To me it always appeared as a mechanism to contain resisting intellectuals.
( you might be remembering an attempt at 'ranking'
world's top intellectuals!!!)
But when intellectuals who are already part of the establishment
get recognised by the establishment, isn't it a nonevent?
Sorry, if I am raising it aginst the decorum and 'community' feelings :)
