One peculiar phenomenon seen in Kerala, particularly in connection with
recent land struggles is the 'counter' struggles waged by CPIM. At Chengara
and to some extend in Aralam, Chinnakkanal, Alakkode etc., this amounted to
(counter )--attack.

This strategy reminds us of the post Mandal strategy of Sangh Parivar.Once
coming to the conclusion that normal civil and judicial procedures are not
capable of settling the issue, they resorted to riots. A riotous situation
helps them to erase all other identities
temporarily. In such a situation, hatred, fear and suspicion are the only
sentiments possible.Propaganda is more belligerent in tone and violent in
proclaimed aims than in previous stages.

Democratic forces ( or Gandhism, secularism or any other ideology for that
matter)
have their role in preventing riots. Once riot errupts all of them become
helpeless and useless.

Bhasurendrans of Kerala are naturalising fascism to such an extent that we
acould at least
realise how Gujarats happen. If blatant extra legal measures and efforts at
creating riot is normalised
this easy , there is no hope in the future of democracy.

We should unite and try to expose this fascist strategy in all possible
forums.

Representational violence is the first step in making brutal violence
acceptable among the
middleclass. See how systematically the CPIM propaganda machine is working
to
paint a nonviolent struggle as violent and illegitimate.
