The CBI had arrested two priests and a nun in connection with the case and had kept them in custody for a full 42 days. At the time of the arrest the CBI had claimed that there were clear evidences against the priests and the nun. No rules like the accused should be arrested only after the collection of clear evidences against them and that a charge sheet should be presented within 90 days from the day of the arrest, have been followed by the investigating team in this case. Now the church validates that the delay from the part of the CBI to submit a charge sheet, as a clear indication of the arrest was not on evidences but with some other intentions. The church has been co-operative with all kinds of investigation carried out by various agencies all these years.
