Two natives of Pathanamthitta district filed a petition in court to set free them from the love jihad accusation. In this plea, Justice Sasidharan Nair issued the verdict that the police has vested interest in this case and the revealed mysteries, regarding this case, shocked him. http://www.asianetindia.com/news/love-jihad-court-prevents-probe_111084.html ----------------------------- *Court stays investigation * Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the investigation in a case where two accused were charged with an attempt to convert two women to Islam after enticing them through love affair. Justice M. Sasidharan Nambiar passed the order on a petition filed by the two accused, Shahan Shah and Sirajuddin, seeking to quash the First Information Report against them. The judge said the conduct of the investigating officer had shocked the judicial conscience. As per Section 162 of Cr.PC, no statement made by any person to the police officer in the course of investigation should be signed by the person making it. However, in this case, the officer had obtained not only the signature but the thumb impressions of the two women as well. The action of the police officer was a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Cr.PC. The court said it could not be believed that the police officer was ignorant of the provisions.
