Synopses of films screened:

*A Pestering Journey*/Dir. K.R.Manojkumar/2010

A voyage through two pesticide tragedies in post independent India, *A
Pestering Journey* is an attempt to interrogate the legitimate forms and
technologies of killing available in a culture. It unravels the many
interwoven layers of culture and agriculture and foregrounds the logic of
green revolution. In an atypical move it challenges and changes the idioms
of pesticide and genocide and reveals the claims over knowledge and
expertise which pushes a pesticide like Endosulfan to a dubious position
between poison and medicine.

The Atomic Energy Regulation Board has said, that there should be no
tourism site within a radius of 20 km from a Nuclear plant. But Kudankulam
is only 14 kms from Kanyakumari and only 60 kms by air from
Thiruvananthapuram. An accident at Kudankulam will be unmanageable because
of the high density of population. The functioning of this Nuclear Power
Plant will destabilise the livelihood of the people living in the vicinity,
pollute the environment in an unimaginable magnitude; and in case of an
accident, the fallout will be beyond boundaries and uncountable! This music
video is a protest song, pledging its solidarity with those ordinary people
of Koodankulam who try to make their voices heard and who still hope that
their right to life and livelihood will be respected by the government and
other forces.
