National Fishworkers' Forum Meet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The national committee meeting of the National
Fishworkers' Forum will be held at Thomas Kechery Nagar (ICUF centre) here
on Saturday and Sunday.

The meeting will give final shape to the agitation which will begin in the
national-level with a demand to set up a Fisheries Department at the
Centre; to include thunder, lightening, sea accidents and tsunami in the
list of disaster management of natural calamities, among many other
demands. "Delegates from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu,
Puducherry, Seemandhra, Odisha, West Bengal and New Delhi would take part
in the meeting," said Forum national secretary T Peter in a press
conference here on Tuesday.

A 'sea journey' will be organised on November 21, 'World Fishermen's Day',
from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram to protect sea and sea shore.
