On the face of it, it's too stupid. In my view, not *primarily* because of the prospect of triggering bad press in the West, but because, quite likely, the state poll in West Bengal is going to commence in another two months or so. The BJP wants very badly to wrest the state - most of all, to initiate a cataclysmic roll-out of the NPR-NRC. And, as yet, elections are, by and large, genuine elections - if we opt to overlook the huge asymmetry in terms of financial resources, aided big by the new system of electoral bonds, and the grossly partisan use of the ED/IT/CBI and other administrative apparatuses, and even "independent watchdogs". A reckless action, right at this moment, is just not going to help. One has got to be too stupid not to acknowledge that. But, then, you never really know.
