Of course, even earlier, the regime did quietly drop its persistent move - via repeated ordinances, to nullify the last amendment in the Land Acquisition Act, meant to strengthen the safeguards in favour of the land-owning peasants - enacted under the UAPA, after the decisive drubbing in the Bihar state poll. But, that was, virtually, quite another era, the aura of invincibility had yet to be acquired. At this great moment of elation, we must not forget the martyrs who had to give up their lives to make it happen. Let's not forget the deliberate and brutal mowing down of the protesting peaceful peasants in Lakhimpur Kheri by the son of a Union Minister in the Home Ministry itself. Let's further strengthen our resolve to consign this evil regime - these unfolding years of nightmare, into the dustbin of history. For a starter, voices must be raised higher to nullify the four Labour Codes that have replaced the earlier laws - numbering twenty nine. Voices must be raised to reverse the process of India on Garage Sale, to the cronies. Voices must be raised to scrap the UAPA and the sedition Acts. Let's take heart and soldier on.
